There are leaders who rise for a season and then there are those who are purposefully crowned for generations. Oumie Garba Fox belongs to the latter.
A visionary founder, ministry leader, author, and cultural advocate, Oumie Garba Fox is building a legacy rooted in faith, obedience, and intentional leadership. Her life’s work reflects a woman who chose calling over comfort, purpose over applause, and legacy over personal gain.
A Journey Marked by Obedience
Oumie’s story is one of surrender. Before the platforms, before the pageantry, and before the public recognition, there was a defining moment the decision to put down the microphone.
As a gifted artist, music once served as her primary form of expression. Yet, in a season of deep spiritual alignment, Oumie discerned that God was calling her beyond performance and into ministry. It was not an easy transition but it was a necessary one.
“I realized my voice was meant to heal more than entertain,” she reflects.
That act of obedience became the foundation for everything that followed.

Purposefully Crowned: A Ministry in Written Form
Out of that journey was born her forthcoming ministry book, Purposefully Crowned a deeply personal and faith centered work that speaks to identity, healing, and divine calling. The book explores what it truly means to be crowned by God not with titles or accolades, but with responsibility, stewardship, and purpose.
Drawing from her lived experiences, Oumie invites readers especially women to confront seasons of transition, let go of former versions of themselves, and walk boldly into God’s assignment for their lives. Purposefully Crowned is more than a book. It is a spiritual mantle, calling readers to rise into who they were always meant to be.
Leadership Rooted in Faith and Heritage
Guided by her African heritage and anchored in her faith in Jesus Christ, Oumie’s leadership philosophy centers on service, integrity, and identity. She believes leadership is not about being seen but about seeing others.
From the Crown to the Calling
Long before founding the Miss Africa America Pageant Organization, Oumie stood on the pageant stage herself as Miss Gambia USA. That experience became the seed that would later grow into something far greater than a title. While the crown brought visibility, it also revealed gaps young women needed more than competition. They needed mentorship. Identity. Faith. Direction. Purpose.
“I knew firsthand what it felt like to wear a crown,” Oumie reflects, “but I also understood the responsibility to make room for African woman like myself in an industry that does not always embrace African beauty.”
It was through her own journey as a titleholder that the vision for Miss Africa America was birthed a platform designed not just to crown queens, but to develop leaders.
Miss Africa America Pageant Organization stands as a reflection of Oumie’s lived experience and spiritual convictions. What began as a vision inspired by her own pageant journey has grown into a purpose-driven leadership platform.
Miss Africa America emphasizes:
- Leadership development and mentorship
- Cultural pride across the African diaspora
- Faith centered identity and service
- Community engagement beyond the stage
For Oumie, the crown symbolizes stewardship not status. Every contestant is taught that influence must be used to uplift others and serve with integrity.

Embracing Motherhood With Joy
In her most sacred season yet, Oumie now carries the role she cherishes deeply motherhood. As a wife and mother, she embraces this chapter with the same intentionality she brings to leadership.
“Motherhood has softened me and strengthened me at the same time,” she says. “It has deepened my understanding of legacy not just what I build publicly, but what I pour into my child daily.”
Balancing ministry, leadership, and family, Oumie finds joy in nurturing life, knowing that legacy begins at home.
Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, Oumie and Richard Fox envision expanding the Miss Africa America Pageant Organization through:
- Global outreach across the African diaspora and Europe.
- Increased scholarships and educational access
- Year round leadership and ministry development
- Deeper community and faith based initiatives
Every goal is rooted in sustainability, spiritual alignment, and long-term generational impact.
Legacy Still Becoming
Oumie’s story is also marked by humble beginnings that shaped her faith and resilience. As a young immigrant arriving in Sweden from The Gambia, life was far from easy. There were days when food was scarce, nights filled with uncertainty, and moments when all she and her siblings had to hold onto was hope. Raised by a mother who did her very best to provide for her five children, Oumie learned early the power of sacrifice, perseverance, and prayer. The prayer became her refuge, her strength, and her reminder that God sees, provides, and restores. Those early days marked by lack but filled with faith became the foundation of the woman, leader, and servant she is today.
Oumie Garba Fox is living proof that legacy evolves through seasons. As a daughter, author, speaker, wife, mother and leader. Each role has refined her calling, shaping a life marked by obedience, faith, and purpose.
She was crowned once on a stage.
She is crowned daily by obedience.
And the legacy she is building with her husband, her child, and her calling will endure far beyond a lifetime.
